Mediation

Lea Shelemey, Valparaiso Mediator, Divorce & Family Law Attorney

Conflict is something we may face when interacting with others including our spouse, our children, our parents, neighbors or co-workers.

Mediation offers individuals who are engaged in conflict an opportunity to explore options in an attempt to resolve their disputes peacefully and without having to go to Court.

Through the mediation process, a specially trained mediator serves as a facilitator helping the parties in dispute to resolve their differences and reach a mutually acceptable resolution.

When parties are able to resolve their differences through mediation, rather than through litigation, the resulting legally binding agreements are more likely to be satisfactory, and are more often complied with.

As a registered mediator trained in both domestic relations and civil mediation, Attorney Shelemey understands the benefits mediation may provide to couples faced with divorce. Mediation may prove helpful in other areas where parties find themselves at odds with one another such as personal injury claims, property damage, contract issues, real estate disputes, employment disputes, probate of estate challenges, medical care disputes, and international conflict.
